In an era when more Americans are avoiding the urge to supersize, some restaurants are still pushing meals that pack a day or more’s calories along with an abundance of saturated fat and sodium.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a nonprofit that promotes nutrition and food safety, released its annual “Xtreme Eating” list this week, an honor roll of the nation’s unhealthiest meals. Meals that made the list had at least 1,700 calories – almost a day’s recommended intake. Most are meat dishes, with the whopping 2,850-calorie Whole Hog Burger from Uno Pizzeria & Grill capturing the crown of America’s unhealthiest meal this year.

The fact that the Whole Hog Burger topped the list doesn’t faze Uno Pizzeria and Grill. “We created the Whole Hog Burger to be an over-the-top eating experience that would capture the attention of our customers, taste great and be a fun challenge to conquer,” the company said in a statement.

They’re right. Eat enough of them, and it’s a major challenge to shed those unwanted pounds.
