The uninsured rate for U.S. adults hit a low of 10.9 percent at the end of 2016, but it’s been on the rise since then, Gallup reported Tuesday. By the end of 2017, the rate had risen to 12.2 percent, an increase of 3.2 million people.

Gallup cited several factors for the increase, including Republican efforts to repeal or weaken the Obamacare system, rising prices and declining insurer participation. The social research company expects the uninsured rate to continue to climb in the years ahead.
