The Timetable for Round Two of Tax Reform

GARY CAMERON

At a Washington Post event Tuesday marking the six-month anniversary of the GOP tax plan, Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, laid out his timetable for the second round of tax changes.

Brady said he envisions circulating a draft of the new changes to House Republicans when Congress returns from its Fourth of July break, then spending the month listening to colleagues in the House and incorporating their changes. A legislative outline would be released in early August, with votes following in the fall, depending on when leadership chooses to schedule them.

Brady also said he doesn’t see the second round of reform as one bill but rather a package of two, three or four bills, with one of them designed to make permanent the temporary tax cuts enacted last year.
