Nearly 37 percent of American adults ate fast food on any given day between 2013 and 2016, according to a new CDC data brief.

Perhaps surprisingly, the CDC found that fast food consumption grew with increasing family income.

“Fast foods tend to be high in calories, fat, salt and sugar, which -- when consumed in excess -- can be associated with obesity, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes and heart disease, among other health risks,” CNN noted.
