Zika and Other Health Threats
Medical professionals have signed a letter to the World Health Organization and International Olympic Committee asking to either postpone or relocate the Olympics due to the Zika virus in Brazil. The most serious known risk of Zika is that it can cause birth defects if a pregnant woman is infected; the CDC details the virus here. The WHO has also warned travelers about dengue fever and chikungunya, another viral infection.
