Companies often rent plants for their offices and hire services to water and care for them, which can cost thousands of dollars a year. The Telegraph reported that Goldman Sachs ordered plants removed at its London offices as a cost-saving measure. “Every dollar we don’t spend is a dollar available for the bottom line,” Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman said at a town hall meeting this summer after an employee said he had noticed fewer plants around the office.
