Salvadorian Gang Warfare
A gang member of Mara Salvatrucha (MS13) who was detained during a night raid is presented to the media in Soyapango, on the outskirts of El Salvador, June 21, 2012. At least 30 of the 160 gang members arrested during a raid late Wednesday were presented to the media by the National Civil Police (Policia Nacional Civil, PNC), local media reported. According to the government of El Salvador, since a truce was signed between MS13 and 18 gangs, daily crimes have dropped from 15 cases to five.
