Jeane Kirkpatrick
Kirkpatrick was the first woman to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. After her death in 2006 at age 80, The New York Times remembered her as "a beacon of neoconservative thought who helped guide American military, diplomatic and covert action from 1981 to 1985."
