Omaha, 1969

African-American teenager Vivian Strong was shot and killed by police officers in an incident at the Logan Fontenelle Housing Projects in June 1969. In response, young African Americans, led by the Black Association for Nationalism Through Unity (BANTU rioted throughout the Near North Side neighborhood, looting the North 24th Street business corridor. During this attack, eight businesses were destroyed.   Rioting went on for several more days.
