Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart flew into Americans’ hearts when she became the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. After setting many other flying records, she disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean during an attempt to make a circumnavigational flight of the globe in 1937.
