Idaho moved up two spots on this year’s list. The state has the third lowest rate of preventable hospitalizations, and the fourth lowest rate of low birthweight babies in the country.
Strengths: Low prevalence of smoking; low violent crime rate; low prevalence of low birthweight.
Challenges: Low percentage of high school graduation; high incidence of pertussis; low number of primary care physicians.
