Wesley Snipes
Known for his starring role in Blade, Snipes was convicted in 2008 on three counts of failing to file federal income tax returns. During the trial, fellow actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington wrote letters for Snipes attesting to his compassion and intelligence and television’s Judge Joe Brown served as a character witness. Snipes offered the federal government three checks for $5 million as a down payment on his taxes, but neither the character witnesses nor the money swayed the judge and Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison.
