Long before she was sent to jail for insider-trading, Stewart was forced to pay $220,000 in back property taxes and penalties to the State of New York for two different residences. The home and garden guru claimed that since she hadn’t spent much time at her East Hampton home and Manhattan apartment, she didn’t think she was required to pay taxes on them.
